Alexander Beets & the Kung Fu Jazz Orchestra is an electrifying fusion of groove, funk, and cool jazz, brought to life by saxophonist Alexander ‘The Hurricane’ Beets and a powerhouse lineup of top musicians. Inspired on the music of David Sanborn, George Benson, Tower of Power, Dave Koze and the Average White Band Alexander decided he wanted to form a band were he could blend jazz tradition with funky, modern vibes. The repertoire includes funky originals and reimagined jazz classics, designed to get audiences moving while showcasing the individual virtuosity of each band member.
Next to Alexander on tenor there is Rolf Delfos on alto saxophone, Baer Trae on vocals, keys and guitar, Sven Rozier on drums and Marius Beets on bass guitar. In an international setting Thai saxophonist Koh Mr Saxman or Pang Saxpackgirl are added and in South Africa Darren English on trumpet is featured. In the Netherlands Ruud Breuls of Jan van Duikeren can be added. This is definitely not smooth jazz. It’s in your face Kung Fu Groovy High Energy dance music.

The Round Midnight Orchestra does not have a fixed location. They perform all over the world, from intimate jazz clubs to large-scale festivals. The last years, their tours included South Africa, India, Thailand, and South America, where they captivated audiences with their passionate and swinging performances.
In de Observant ‘Home of Jazz’ in Amersfoort, Alexander and his quintet pay tribute to the history off jazz in various combinations six times a year. All show are also available for clubs and festivals.
